
The South East Senate Caucus congratulates Senator Azuta Mbata on his appointment as President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.
According to PUNCH Online, Azuta-Mbata was elected president of the Igbo socio-cultural organisation on Friday.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Caucus leader, said Mbata’s victory in the election held during the Ohaneze General Assembly in Enugu marks a watershed moment in the history of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization in a statement issued Saturday.
The caucus, he said, has firm confidence in Mbata’s pedigree and leadership qualities that are solid enough to steer Ohaneze to achieve the much-needed unity and development in Igboland and command the ability to also reach out to similar associations outside Igboland to enhance good relationships for the
“We, as a caucus, are confident that Ohaneze, as organized under Sen. Mbata’s leadership, would bring the entire Igbo race together in harmony and peace, making Ohaneze a true rallying place for Ndigbo wherever they are. “We feel that such a trajectory would undoubtedly stimulate, instill confidence, and reenergize our people’s abilities to pursue their individual and communal goals of achieving sustainable development for the benefit of Igboland and Nigeria.
“The caucus also lauds the delegates at the general assembly and the political leadership, particularly the state governors, for their unwavering commitment to support the New Ohaneze leadership to succeed,” Abaribe told the crowd.
The caucus also congratulated the outgoing President General, Nze Felix Ozichukwu Chukwu, on leading Ohaneze to hand over the leadership reins to Mbata in a peaceful election, and urged Ndigbo to fully support Senator Mbata and his executive in carrying out his mandate to restore Alaigbo’s dignity and prosperity.
