Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, congratulated Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, the billionaire industrialist and chairman of the Eleganza Group, on his 85th birthday.
He said that the business tycoon had helped Nigeria’s economy grow and created jobs for many Nigerians through his various investments, which also spread to other African markets.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser (SA) on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu said that Okoya, a well-known businessman and philanthropist who would turn 85 on Sunday, was deserving of celebration for his dedication and contribution to the economy and way of life of numerous Nigerians, especially in Lagos State, where many of his businesses were situated.
According to Sanwo-Olu, Chief Okoya is one of Nigeria’s commercial tycoons and philanthropists who is positively influencing people’s lives.
He has awarded scholarships to numerous individuals, especially young people, to help them pursue higher education and has also donated money to numerous people to launch small businesses.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I join family, friends and business associates to celebrate the Chairman of the Eleganza Group and the RAO Property Investment Company, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, on his 85th birthday celebration. He is one of Nigeria’s business magnates and philanthropists that are impacting lives positively.
“The Aare of Lagos is a generous man who has given hope through philanthropic gestures to the less privileged in society. He has given scholarships to many people, particularly young people, to further their education and also provided funds to many people to start small businesses,” he said.
“I wish Chief Okoya the best on his 85th birthday. I pray that God will grant him a longer life, strength, and sound health to continuously enjoy the dividends of his long years of investment,” he prayed.
