In preparation for the start of commercial flight operations, the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, or NAMA, started calibrating the landing system at the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport on Friday.

Just one month has passed since the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, or NCAA, approved non-scheduled flight operations at the airport for a six-month term.

The JOHESU boss also urged well-meaning Nigerians and philanthropists to come to the aid of the hospital.

At precisely 4:13 p.m., the calibration plane carrying the NAMA officials landed on the airport runway. The exercise started right away.

In the air system industry, calibration is a procedure that guarantees the security of air navigation through routine flight inspections, test equipment system calibration, and airspace system monitoring.

Additionally, it is one of the last steps to guarantee that the facility satisfies international aviation requirements for effective and safe operations.

Among those present at the airport to greet the NAMA team were AVM Sunday Makinde (Rtd), the Technical Adviser to the Governor on Airport Project; Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Information Commissioner; Mrs. Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, the Environment Commissioner; Hon. Kolawole Ajobiewe, the Transport Commissioner; and Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy.

AVM Makinde (Rtd), who briefed reporters at the airport, stated that the calibration exercise by NAMA officials and the landing of the calibration aircraft were significant steps toward the airport’s ultimate clearance for commercial operations.

AVM Makinde, who expressed his happiness with the airport’s development, clarified that it is completely prepared for commercial use and that any sort of aircraft may land there.

“What’s happening here today is actually a working flight operation. This plane is a calibration plane from NAMA. Basically, what they came for is just to ensure that our systems, especially our navigational systems, are able to pick any frequency of any aircraft coming to Ekiti and also check out communication systems. The Ekiti Agro Cargo International Airport is fully ready,” he said.

Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, stated in his remarks that the airport is prepared for a seamless takeoff following a number of certifications and inspections by pertinent regulatory aviation agencies.

Olatunbosun referred to the development as a “dream come true,” stating that it will facilitate commerce, draw in investors, and make life easier for the populace while also opening up new avenues for tourism, investment, and economic growth in the state.

The Commissioner stated that the completion of the airport is evidence of Governor Oyebanji’s shared commitment to transforming the state’s economy and making it a hub for both local and international connectivity, while also promising that the development would enhance the state’s socioeconomic and industrial development.

On Saturday, the NAMA team will leave the airport.
