For the first time in 2025, Nigeria’s national grid experienced a significant failure, following almost ten failures in the year prior.
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, the collapse occurred, sending many Nigerians into a statewide blackout.
According to checks, power generation decreased from 2111.01 megawatts at 2:00 pm to 390.20 MW at 3:00 pm.
In a post, the Energy podcast acknowledged the blackout with the headline, “National grid suffers major collapse… First in 2025.”
As stated in another post, “Restoration has begun. As of 02:40 pm, 302MW being generated.
