The trial of Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, also known as ‘Auxiliary’, continued yesterday with the prosecution counsels calling its 7th witness to provide oral evidence.

Lamidi, the former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Oyo State, is facing a 17-count charge that includes armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms.

Recall, on the 29th of May, 2023, some suspected miscreants invaded the residence of Governor Seyi Makinde immediately after his second term inauguration and allegedly disrupted the peace by violently attacking people.

The prosecutions counsel called his 7th witness, Mr. Fatai Awodele, who testified that he was attacked and severely injured on the day of the incident.

He also claimed that his wristwatch and N65,000 cash were stolen by men accompanying Lamidi.

The defense counsel, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, cross-examined the witness, questioning him about the identities of Lamidi’s accomplices and the operations of the disbanded NURTW.

The case was thereafter adjourned by justice Bayo Taiwo of the Oyo state high court for continuation of hearing today.
