Firefighters in Los Angeles, California, have ordered more than 80,000 residents to leave as they battle several fires in the suburbs.

Both strong winds and dry weather contributed to the fires. According to experts, there is currently no chance of controlling some of the fires.

80,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate after more than 2,000 buildings were destroyed by fire. Additionally, the fire has killed at least five people.

The BBC reports that seven flames are being fought at the moment

At 10:30 on Tuesday (18:30 GMT), the Palisades fire was first recorded. In just 20 minutes, it had grown from 20 acres to over 200 acres, and by Wednesday evening, it was getting close to 16,000 acres. To yet, orders have been issued for at least 30,000 people to evacuate their houses.

In the first six hours after it started, the Eaton fire spread to 1,000 acres. It began Tuesday at about 18:30 local time in Altadena, in the hills above Pasadena. It had expanded to over 10,000 acres by Wednesday evening, January 8, and five fatalities had been confirmed.

North of San Fernando is where the Hurst fire is. Local officials say it grew to 850 acres after starting to burn Tuesday at about 22:10 local time. In nearby Santa Clarita, evacuation orders have been issued as a result.

On Wednesday, about 06:15 local time, the Woodley fire started in Woodley Park. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), it has been contained.

In Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, an Olivas fire broke out and spread over roughly 11 acres of land before being put out.

In the rugged Acton region north of Los Angeles, the Lidia fire began at approximately 14:00 on Wednesday and spread to nearly 350 acres. It was 40% contained as of 21:00.

Around 18:00, the Sunset fire started in the Hollywood Hills, a residential neighborhood with a view of the city’s famous Hollywood district. At the moment, it is 0% contained and spans about 50 acres. There is a mandatory evacuation order.

The fire has devastated numerous Hollywood celebrities’ residences, forcing them to leave, including Ben Affleck, Paris Hilton, Adam Brody, Eugene Levy, Miles Teller, Leighton Meester, Anna Faris, Billy Crystal, and many more.
