Plateau child trafficking gang dismantled by police

In a statement released on Monday, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, said that Nigerian police officers had successfully dismantled a child trafficking syndicate in the Bukuru area of Plateau State.

According to Adejobi, five children between the ages of two and four who had been kidnapped from various homes in Jos, Plateau State, were rescued during the operation.

Similarly, on December 2, 2024, police officers apprehended a child-trafficking syndicate led by one Pastor Dayo Bernard’m’ of End Time Army Ministry, Bukuru, Plateau State,” he said.

Five children, ages two to four, who had been kidnapped from different houses in Jos, Plateau State, were rescued as a result of the operation. Rita Agboeze, Victoria Ugwu, Nanman Puntel, and Peter Ukwuani were among the other syndicate members that were arrested.

During questioning, the main suspect admitted to kidnapping and selling 13 children for a range of sums; the police have since found the children and reunited them with their families via the Plateau State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

Adejobi added that 14 AK-47 rifles were successfully seized by FID-IRT agents in accordance with the IG’s order for all police detectives to seize all illegal weapons and ammunition in circulation.

He previously stated that Ogaga Dickson, 35, had been taken into custody by the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team for the alleged murder of CSP Hassan Jega, the DPO of Delta State’s Agbarho Division.

Weeks after CSP Jega was killed on October 14, 2024, in a gunfight between his squad and the attackers, Adejobi said Ogaga was captured on November 1, 2024.

He claimed that four gang members had already been eliminated by agents during a raid on their hiding place.

Part of the statement said, on  November 1, 2024, operatives of the FID-IRT arrested one Ogaga Dickson ‘m’ 35 years, a member of a notorious armed robbery syndicate responsible for the death of CSP Hassan Jega, the DPO Agbarho Division, Delta State, who was killed on the 14th of October 2024, during a fierce gun battle between a team of police officers led by the deceased DPO and the assailants, after the team of policemen had foiled one of their robbery operations.

Four gang members had been neutralized after the agents entered the group’s cave and engaged them in a heated gunfight.

“One Ak 47 rifle, one English pistol, one locally made pistol, ammunition of various calibres, and six exotic vehicles were recovered by the police upon Ogaga’s arrest,” Adejobi stated.
