The unexpected death of Engr. Ahmad Ishaq Bunkure, Governor Abba Yusuf’s recently appointed Special Adviser on Works, just 24 hours after his swearing-in, has plunged the Kano State Government into mourning.
In a statement issued today, January 8, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokeswoman, confirmed Bunkure’s death in Egypt. On Monday, January 6, 2025, Bunkure was one of the newly appointed commissioners and aides that were sworn in by Governor Yusuf.
In his condolence message, Governor Yusuf characterized the late adviser as a dedicated professional whose knowledge was anticipated to make a substantial contribution to the administration’s development strategy.
“This is a heartbreaking moment for us as a government. Engr. Bunkure was a dedicated professional whose expertise and contributions were expected to drive our administration’s vision for development. His loss is deeply felt,” the governor said.
