He praised Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, for giving the funding that enabled the institution to obtain approval for 67 academic programs from the National Universities Commission.

The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the university Senate has authorized the launch of a number of new programs, including Special Education, Early Childhood Care Education, French Language, Chinese Studies, Yoruba Language, Medicine and Surgery, and Agricultural Sciences. With intentions to debut in the academic year 2025–2026, he said these new programs would shortly be presented to the NUC for resource verification.

At the handover ceremony for the Faculty of Nursing Sciences Laboratory, which was given to the university by the Ijesaland Community in Ilesa, Osun State, Asaolu said these things.

Since the professional organizations that oversee these programs have stringent requirements that must be fulfilled, we have decided not to take corners or compromise on standards.

After putting a lot of material and human resources into these programs, I am happy to report that we have achieved these requirements. He expressed gratitude to the state government, led by His Excellency Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for its support.

In the last 20 months, the institution has received more than N4 billion from the governor, which has been utilized for infrastructure improvements, renovations, and resource verification. We have been able to obtain NUC clearance for 67 academic programs as a result.

Asaolu added that the university had applied for NUC accreditation for nine programs under the University of Ibadan’s Bachelor of Education Degree program and 23 academic programs under the University of Ilesa.

“The new facility would enhance the university’s efforts to provide quality education, enabling nursing students to receive better practical training,” he said in response to the laboratory donation.
