Solomon Dalung, a former minister of youth and sports, claims that the clique surrounding former President Muhammadu Buhari is less dangerous than the cabals surrounding President Bola Tinubu. On Tuesday, the former minister appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today show.
Dalung, who served as a minister under Buhari, claimed that when the cabals took over the administration, Buhari was an outsider in his own government.
The former minister claimed that the powerbrokers surrounding Tinubu are clever, ambitious, educated, and well-versed in power dynamics, whereas the cabals surrounding Buhari were less educated.
Dalung pointed to the ability of the cabals surrounding Tinubu to block information and human traffic from the president, erect barriers around him, and control power.
Tinubu, who was sworn in on May 29, 2023, after barely winning a hotly contested election in February 2023, declared in July 2024 that he was not answerable to any moneybag or cabal.
Dalung countered, “Obviously, there were cabals in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. I have attested to the fact that it is known.
However, I would argue that the members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabals lacked political, administrative, and governance expertise and were ill-informed.
Their actions were therefore essentially restricted to their narrow grasp of power dynamics and hand-to-hand transactions to benefit themselves from the public coffers.
However, the cabal of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is composed of a group of well-educated, aspirational individuals with a lengthy past in power.
Their education and experience have given them a solid understanding of what power is.
The administration will suffer more than that of President Muhammadu Buhari because of their ability to control power, erect a security barrier around the president, and prevent information from reaching him other than what they want.
These cabals are more dangerous than any cabal in this country’s history because they are masters.
