According to ireport247news yesterday, a gas cylinder exploded near a large tree in Orazi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, causing severe burns to 17 individuals. A recent update revealed that over 20 people, including a pregnant woman, four children, and a spouse, had suffered serious injuries as a result of the gas exposure.

The gas cylinder exploded while the operator was filling the can, and the explosion had caused fire to spread.

It was also discovered that the explosion had caused a fire that had gone so far, burning some stores and externally exhibited goods belonging to various business owners.

Some of the victims of the fire were bystanders who were near the store when the gas erupted and caught fire, according to a source with knowledge of the incident.

A pregnant woman was impacted by the explosion, according to a source who called a radio station on Sunday night to report the occurrence.

“No one was killed, but about 20 people were burned. Since it’s the start of the year, let the government help them,” he begged.

We (the police) have started an investigation to find out more,” said SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the state police command spokesperson.

“Yes, I can confirm the incident. It was a technician repairing a fridge carrying a gas cylinder to weld the fridge when it exploded. 18 persons were injured but no life was lost. The man himself was injured. They are all in the hospital receiving treatment.

All of the gas explosion victims were sent right away to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Emergency room for prompt medical assistance, according to the source.

Some of the victims are severely burned, as seen in a graphic video that an eyewitness shared online.
