Olamide Thomas, a Nigerian lady who reportedly used social media to threaten Seyi Tinubu and Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police, with death threats, has been granted N10 million bail by Justice Emeka Nwite of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to the court’s ruling, she must additionally give one surety in the same amount.

The court stated in its ruling on her bail application that the prosecution had not presented any hard proof that the defendant will violate her bail.

“I have thoroughly reviewed the complainant’s and defendant’s affidavit evidence,” he stated.

According to Justice Nwite, it is in the interest of justice for the court to grant the bail request in cases where the accused would not violate the terms of the bail or obstruct the trial.

In addition to requiring the surety to provide a three-year tax clearance certificate, the judge also required the surety to swear to an affidavit of means.

The surety must live within the court’s jurisdiction, he stated.

Justice Nwite further mandated that the surety’s address be confirmed and that the defendant and surety file two recent passport photos with the court’s registrar.

As a result, the judge postponed the trial until February 18. After T.J. Aondo, who represented Thomas, and Victor Okoye, the prosecution’s attorney, presented arguments for and against the bail request, Justice Nwite deferred the case for a decision on December 31.

After Thomas entered a not guilty plea to the three charges the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police had brought against her, she was arraigned and placed under remand at Suleja Correctional Center on December 20.
