Alhaji Amadu Surajo, the Acting Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Katsina State, was slain by suspected terrorists late Saturday night when they attacked Mai Rana village in Kusada Local Government Area.
In addition, the assailants killed three more individuals, injured a number of others, and kidnapped Surajo’s first and second wives as well as one of his daughters, a college student.
According to reports, the first wife was later freed by the attackers.
After the association’s former Chairman and National Vice President, Munnir Lamido, vanished inexplicably in June of last year, Surajo—who had previously been MACBAN’s state secretary—was promoted to Acting Chairman.
There has been conjecture on the nature of the strike since the terrorists’ attack occurred in a region of Katsina State that is not usually affected by such violence.
Since then, security personnel have been sent to the neighbourhood to look into the event and restore calm.
While the injured are being treated, the bodies of Surajo and other victims will be buried in accordance with Islamic customs.
