Samha M. Inuwa, a well-known Kannywood actress, has been suspended for a year by the Kano State Censorship Board due to accusations of inflammatory films and indecent attire.
Following multiple public objections, the board made its decision, which was disclosed in a statement signed by Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, its information officer.
The actress was repeatedly warned about her “crude dressing, vulgar displays, and inappropriate language” in some of her videos, but she disregarded the board’s rules, the statement said.
The board delayed the censorship of any film in which she appears and removed her status as part of the disciplinary proceedings.
The Kano State Censorship Board emphasized that it is required by law to make sure that all artistic creations, including books and movies, adhere to the moral, cultural, and religious principles of the state.
The statement further said, “This suspension is part of the board’s ongoing efforts to ensure strict adherence to its rules and regulations and maintain moral standards in the Kannywood film industry.”
