Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke officially opened the Parakin-Obalufe road in Ile-Ife on Friday as part of the state’s urban renewal initiative.
The 0.25-kilometer road project was financed by Ile-Ife native Ebenezer Fashogbon.
Mr. Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to infrastructure development while speaking during the inauguration in Ile-Ife.
He also pledged that the state he oversaw would keep raising funds to construct important highways.
The governor, through Adedipo Eluwole, the commissioner for education, praised Fashogbon for the gift and for supporting government initiatives in rural development.
He pointed out that the current administration “loves progress,” which is why several initiatives are being started throughout the state to make life more tolerable for everyone.
“The ongoing flyover in the Isle of Ife, which was originally supposed to end at the Ogbingbin area, has been extended to the Ojafe side, which will be dualised with street lights.”
“To guarantee a good life for our people, this kind of personal development should continue to supplement the government efforts,” the governor stated.
Sen. Babajide Omoworare, a former special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on subjects pertaining to the National Assembly, also spoke and cautioned philanthropists and other stakeholders to follow Fashogbon’s example, stating that each person must do their share to help their community grow.
Additionally, Mr. Fashogbon, who provided funding for the road renovation, thanked God and praised the locals for their assistance in making the project a success.
Mr. Fashogbon also expressed gratitude to his wife, Ndidi, for helping him with the road’s development. The benefactor from Australia promised to get other Ile-Ife natives living abroad to return and help rebuild the historic town.
Oba Idowu Adediwura, the Obalufe of Ifeland, praised Mr. Fashogbon and his spouse for their community service.
Therefore, Obalufe urged other Ife natives living abroad to follow in Mr. Fashogbon’s footsteps by helping the government and Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, to better the community. Olawale Atoyebi, the project engineer, clarified that the road was constructed according to specifications and that its longevity was ensured.
