On Monday, December 30, 2024, His Excellency Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke was formally appointed Osun State’s Chief Creative Officer.
To officially launch the data collection of creatives in Osun State, Governor Adeleke logged into the Osun State Creative Data World Platform during a live media interaction during the just concluded Adire Osun Festival and logo unveiling.
Governor Adeleke encouraged all Osun State creatives to follow his example by logging on to the site for thorough documentation and profiling in order to properly position themselves for government patronage and required support for the official opening of the historic cultural event.
The state government’s endeavour to support Osun’s creative industries officially began with the introduction of the Adire Osun Festival’s official logo.
A legend in Nigeria’s creative industry and the Senior Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Creative Economy, Events, and Entertainment, Mr. Tunde Laface, spoke at the event and emphasised the strategic roles that entertainment and creativity played in Governor Adeleke’s rise to prominence and in solidifying his status as the most exceptional and well-liked governor in Nigeria.
The Adire Osun Festival is expected to turn Osun State into an entertainment hub of creativity and culture in Nigeria, he said emphatically, citing the Osun State Creative Industry as its main pillar and Governor Adeleke’s support as the project’s key motivator.
Additionally, Mr. Tunde Laface suggested that the Osun State House of Assembly, under the direction of Distinguished Speaker Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, pass legislation making the Adire Osun Festival a yearly occasion in Osun State.
He claims that doing this will guarantee that the festival’s potential benefits are fully realised.
This call was greatly aided by Governor Adeleke’s emphasis in his speech that, in his capacity as the Adire Osun Festival’s chief creative officer, the festival will henceforth take place yearly beginning in 2025.
The Adire Osun Ambassadors Launch, Adire Osun Fashion Couture, Omodan Adire, Adire Osun Export Summit, and Adire Osun Street Carnival, a significant component of Thea’s yearly festival, are among the other events anticipated to take place in conjunction with the Adire Osun Festival 2025.
The vibrant and native Adire fabrics will be used to create the Adire Osun Carnival costumes and accessories, which will guarantee adequate dissemination of Osun State’s and her people’s rich culture.
