Governor Seyi Makinde fulfilled his pledge to pay the renowned 13th month salary two days prior to the end of 2024.
In the evening of Monday, December 30, the alert infiltrated the phones of ecstatic Oyo State employees.
This is despite the government spending ₦77 billion annually on salaries and wages for Oyo State employees, according to a statement made by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Information and Orientation.

Only two weeks ago, the commissioner recalled, Governor Makinde authorised the payment of ₦80,000 as the minimum salary for government employees, following the resolution of the consequential adjustment problem by the negotiating council.
According to Prince Oyelade, the government will now pay ₦143 billion in salaries and wages yearly starting on January 1, 2025, in accordance with the new minimum wage’s approval.
Salaries and incomes have increased by an astounding 86% as a result. He claims that this places Oyo State among the top three states in the federation for worker benefits.
He pointed out that in the South West, Oyo State has the largest concentration of government employees.
On December 31, 2024, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation of Oyo State, signed the document.
