Thirteen people were killed and one injured in the Ondo accident

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Sector Command, a traffic collision along Ikare-Akoko/Owo Road on Saturday resulted in at least 13 fatalities and one injury.

This was announced in a statement provided to reporters in Akure on Saturday by Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, the FRSC State Sector Commander.

“FRSC is sorry to notify the public of a traffic accident that happened today, December 28, at Abule Panu, before Ose Bridge, on the Owo-Ikare highway in Ondo State,” he added.

Thirteen commuters in two buses lost their life in the tragic collision that happened at around 10:14 a.m.

Only one of the 14 individuals involved was recovered alive with severe injuries, while the other 13 were completely burned.

According to eyewitness accounts, the bus travelling from Ikare Axis lost control after a tyre broke.

A head-on collision with the bus carrying cloth from Owo Axis was the result of this.

Both of the buses caught fire as soon as they collided.

The men from the Fire Service, Police, and FRSC arrived at the scene of the incident quickly to perform rescue operations.

According to the head of the FRSC, the deceased were placed in the hospital’s mortuary, while the injured sufferer was sent to Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

As a result, he counselled drivers to be patient when driving and to take great care of their cars.

Since everyone is concerned about road safety, passengers are also urged to speak out against reckless driving, Ibitoye stated.
