Taiwo Yemitan, a suspected ritualist discovered in the Lafenwa neighbourhood of Abeokuta with a fresh human head and the dismembered body parts of a female victim, has been taken into custody, according to the Ogun Police Command. This was revealed in a statement released on Sunday in Abeokuta by the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola.

The 45-year-old suspect was taken into custody at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sunday in his residence behind Atinsola Petrol Station, Sanni, in Abeokuta, according to Ms. Odutola, a superintendent of police.
She said that prior to the suspect’s arrest, the police had acted on a tip from the Agbekoya, state local security groups, and vigilante members.
The suspect acknowledged that he knew the deceased, Darasimi, whom he had enticed to his home with the intention of killing her.
He admitted to the murder and named two other people as co-conspirators: one Kazeem and Kehinde Yemitan. He claimed that they intended to sell the victim’s head along with other body parts.
According to the police spokesperson, the dismembered body was brought for a post-mortem at the mortuary at General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta. She mentioned that attempts were being made to find the victim’s family members and apprehend the accomplices.
The suspect would be moved to the State Criminal inquiry Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a comprehensive inquiry, Ms. Odutola continued. She also mentioned that earlier in the year, a suspect named Azeez Adebayo admitted to killing three women he and his partners had enticed with hook-up arrangements.
She advised young women to be “content” and refrain from “hookup,” claiming that many of the girls involved are killed for rituals. In order to avoid becoming victims, she advised parents to take good care of their girls and to provide them with extensive instruction.
